Once the movie

I have been meaning to write about this for two weeks and each week I get nervous because I am afraid that the movie will be gone from the theaters before I write. Well, todays the day and I just checked and, in the Bay Area at least, it is still playing. So go see it.

"well what is it?" you ask.

It is a small Irish musical made for something like $75,000.

It is like no other musical you've ever seen. It really isn't a musical. It is a film about musicians and occassionaly they play their songs. They also pull vacuum cleaners around Dublin but that is neither here nor there.

So, check it out. You won't regret it. Start by watching the trailer.

IMA and Rebar hit the film fests...and Park(ing) Day 2007 approaches

IMA co-founder and creative director Matt Passmore is also the founder of the art/activist group Rebar (www.rebargroup.org). Perhaps you have seen trees and benches sprouting from parking spots in San Francisco? That's Rebar. Their Park(ing) Day 2006 was a big hit and IMA was there to film the whole process. Now there is a fifteeen minute documentary about the event that has played in L.A., New York and, of course, San Francsico. Unfortunately, this blog went up a little too late for the most recent screenings but we'll keep you posted as the Park(ing) Day Film makes the rounds.

Also, Park(ing) Day 2007 is officially on the way. The newsletter arrived today looking for people to get involved. Wherever you are, Sicily or San Francisco, you too can build a park. Check the official Park(ing) Day website for the latest.
